NEVE CAMPBELL JOINS PEACOCK’S TWISTED METAL SERIES

While horror movie fans are wondering if 90s scream queen Neve Campbell will be reprising her role as Sidney Prescott in the upcoming sixth Scream film, it’s being reported that the actress has joined the cast of Peacock’s upcoming Twisted Metal live action TV series, which is based on the Playstation video game.

Campbell joins Abthoby Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz and Thomas Hayden Church in the series, and according to Deadline, she’ll be playing the role of Raven.

From Cobra Kai writer Michael Jonathan Smith and based on an original take by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Twisted Metal is a half-hour action-comedy about a motor-mouthed outsider (Mackie) offered a chance at a better life — but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a postapocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief (Beatriz), he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all-too-familiar ice cream truck.

The first Twisted Metal game was released in 1995, developed by SingleTrac and published by Sony for the PlayStation. That original game spawned follow-ups and spinoffs, with a movie adaptation at one point in the works from the director of Crank and Ghost Rider. That project never came to be, and a TV adaptation has been in development for the past few years.
