Congratulations are in order for Normani, who’s latest single Wild Side, her first in almost two years has shot straight to #1 on iTunes.
While the song isn’t as strong as Motivation, and Cardi B‘s verse feels like an afterthought, one can’t deny that the production, the cinematography, the costumes, and the choreography are sickening and genre-pushing.
If Normani plays her cards right, I can definitely see her as this generations Aaliyah. It should be noted that Wild Side does include interpolations of Aaliyah’s 1996 hit One In a Million, so the influence is clearly there both sonically, vocally and in the choreography.
