Oscars 2027 and 2028 Set March Ceremony Dates

We officially have a roadmap for the next two years of Hollywood’s favorite self-congratulation marathon. The Oscars ceremony dates revealed this week confirm that the 99th and 100th installments of the Academy Awards are locked in, giving us plenty of time to prepare our snacks and our grievances.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has scheduled the 99th Oscars and the 100th Oscars for 2027 and 2028 — the final two years the telecast will air on its longtime distributor, ABC, before moving to YouTube.

The 99th Oscars will take place Sunday, March 14, 2027, followed by the 100th Oscars on Sunday, March 5, 2028. Both ceremonies will air live at 7 p.m. ET on ABC and in more than 200 territories worldwide from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. The Academy also recently announced that the Oscars will relocate venues, moving from the Dolby Theatre to the Peacock Theater beginning in 2029, where the ceremony will remain through 2039.

Notably, ABC’s first-quarter 2027 slate includes its first as the distributor for the Grammy Awards on Feb. 7, which will also stream on Hulu and Disney+ under a new 10-year deal running through 2036, ending a 54-year partnership with CBS. ABC is also set to televise Super Bowl LXI on Feb. 14, marking the network’s first broadcast of the NFL championship game since 2006.

This year’s Academy Awards telecast, which saw Paul Thomas Anderson’s action epic “One Battle After Another” win best picture, drew 17.86 million viewers across ABC and Hulu. That figure marked a 9% decline from last year’s 19.7 million viewers, which had been a five-year high for the ceremony. The 2026 contender slate already shows immense promise thanks to box office hits such as the Ryan Gosling space dramedy “Project Hail Mary” and highly anticipated movies such as Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Three” with Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya and Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s “Digger” starring Tom Cruise.

A host has yet to be announced for either upcoming ceremony.
