A UK Pride organization is calling on everyone to boycott music by Nicki Minaj because of the recent homophobic and transphobic comments she made at a recent Turning Point grifting event.

On 21 December, the rapper appeared on stage at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in conversation with Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk.
During the conversation, Minaj threw her full support behind the “handsome, dashing” Trump and his vice president JD Vance, and dubbed MAGA supporters “cool kids”.
The 12-time Grammy nominee also doubled down on her opposition to governor of California Gavin Newsom, due to his support for trans youth, and urged young boys to be more masculine.
She told the crowd: “Boys, be boys… It’s OK. Be boys. There’s nothing wrong with being a boy… How powerful is that? How profound is that? Boys will be boys and there’s nothing wrong with that.”
Her comments sent fans into a frenzy, especially those within the LGBTQ+ community.

Taking to social media on 24 December, an account going by the name @prideukorg called out the rapper and urged LGBTQ+ venues to boycott Minaj.
“Dear LGBTQ+ Venues…Please refrain from playing any Nicki Minaj Music. She is not our friend #boycottnickiminaj,” the post read. It has received more than 1.7 million views and has over 19,000 likes.
Comments on the post were turned off, but people were quick to repost it and share their thoughts, many of which were from upset Minaj fans.
One fan hit back: “You don’t speak for all gay and trans people. Shut the f**k up!”
Standing for what exactly? Nicki and that Oswald Cobblepot build she got can barely stand for Nicki Minaj. So I need specifics here.

Another responded, referencing the use of Elon Musk’s Twitter platform and the purchase of a blue tick: “Yet you have a paid account on Elon Musk’s Twitter…”
Someone else echoed a similar sentiment: “Saying this on a republicans platform LMAOOO—- damn yall are stupid.”
“Im gay, I will keep supporting and loving nicki minaj,” another comment read.
“The music too good for a boycott. You’re on your own especially since yall can’t seem to put down 212 and Broke With Expensive Taste by Azealia,” another comment read.
Azealia Banks has a long history of making derogatory remarks. In July, she faced further backlash after saying being gay or trans is not “natural”.
Despite the majority of online reactions criticising the Pride organization and supporting Minaj, the rapper has also received public backlash, including from RuPaul’s Drag Race star Heidi N Closet.
The drag queen branded the rapper “MAGA Minaj”, promoting the rapper taking time out of her day to hit back by correcting the grammar of Heidi N Closet’s post.
