Has Madonna found her cinematic doppelganger? Word on the street is that the pop icon is strongly considering casting Florence Pugh (Midsommar, Black Widow) to play her in her upcoming biopic.
The Mirror is reporting that execs are in love with the 25-year-old actress, but the Hung Up singer has the final say on casting. There are also reports that Ozark actress Julia Garner is also up in the running.

Florence Pugh
A source said: ‘The bosses who are helping put the movie together want Florence [Pugh] and nobody doubts that she could be amazing.
‘On the other hand, fans and the press have already weighed in… Julia is their frontrunner because she is such a dead ringer for early-career Madonna.
‘The final decision will be Madonna’s alone… she’s putting herself under serious pressure to find the perfect person.’

Julia Garner
Speaking about the project on Instagram last year, Madonna said: ‘I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer – a human being, trying to make her way in this world.
‘The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me. It’s essential to share the rollercoaster ride of my life with my voice and vision.’
Last October the Queen of Pop and Diablo revealed that the script had already reached 133 pages – which Cody mentioned was ‘insane’ and ‘biblical’.
‘That’s a big script,’ she observed, sparking Madonna to reply: ‘It’s a big life!’
I’m really excited for this film, and if I were in charge of casting, I’d definitely go with Julia. I just hope whoever is chosen embodies the complete package of Madonna, because those of us who know her work ethic, she will put whoever plays her through the ringer.
