RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE CONTESTANT JASMINE KENNEDIE COMES OUT AS TRANS

On last night’s episode of Untucked, season 14 queertestant Jasmine Kennedie and Bosco spilled the tea on their issues regarding their gender identity.

While Bosco came out as trans a few weeks ago on Twitter, New York queen Jasmine revealed that she is indeed a transgender woman.

Here’s what Jasmine said while fighting back tears.

“Before coming here I was about to start hormones,” she said. “And coming here I was scared and I didn’t want to have to go through this process while going through that. But seeing Kerri and seeing how confident she is in who she is, it just further affirmed what I’ve been feeling my whole life.”

“I definitely feel like I am trans,” she continued. “I’ve been so scared to say it. I have held back from it for so long because I didn’t want to hurt my dad but I can’t lie about it anymore.

“I am trans.”

“You owe it to yourself to be happy, and to live your life as the human being that you want to be.” 🏳️‍⚧️ So proud of @JasmineKennedie for finding the courage to share her journey, and major props to @KerriColby, @hereisbosco, & @kornbreadTMFS for inspiring us all season long! 💘 pic.twitter.com/jPjWWteTuP — RuPaul's Drag Race (@RuPaulsDragRace) February 19, 2022

In a statement on Twitter, Kennedie said: “Thank u Kerri Colby for making me feel comfortable to talk about my identity. If it wasn’t for you, I probably would have never came out.”

Jasmine Kennedie also explained: “I am now at a place in my life where I feel confident enough to finally start living my truth and stop worry [sic] about what others think.

“I started my HRT (hormone replacement therapy) a couple of months after coming back from Drag Race and I couldn’t be more happier.”

If you’ve been keeping track, that makes four trans women on season 14 of Drag Race. Kerri Colby, Kornbread Jete (who went home a few weeks ago due to an on-set injury, Bosco and now Jasmine.

Yes we had a historical moment this season by having the first cis-hetero man to compete on the show, which media conglomerates have tended to focus too much on.

However, let’s give kudos to the many trans women who have not only come out on the show (from season 2 queen and All Stars 6 winner Kylie Sonique Love to Jasmine Kennedie) to the many trans women who have paved the way in the art of drag.
