RuPaul’s Drag Race Icon Trinity The Tuck Shares All Stars Advice for Drag Family Sam Star and Jewels Sparkles

ree

Trinity the Tuck, co-winner of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 4 recently opened up about touring with her drag family and what lies ahead for season 17 stars Jewels Sparkles and Sam Star.

Drag families that go on tour together, slay together. That’s after they’re done bickering, teasing, and stealing wigs from each other.

At least, that’s what usually happens when RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Trinity The Tuck heads out on tour with her drag relatives, Drag Race season 17 stars Jewels Sparkles and Sam Star, and Chicago Entertainer Of The Year Allura The Doll.

Sam and Allura are Trinity’s drag daughters, while Jewels is Trinity’s drag granddaughter (as the drag child of her other daughter, Florida drag legend Shontelle Sparkles). The family are teaming up in London for one night only at Trinity The Tuck’s HAUS Extravaganza, at the Clapham Grand on 1 November, featuring a guest appearance from a possibly-maybe-hopefully future family member in Drag Race UK finalist, Tayce.

Fans can expect “a fierce explosion of glamour, comedy, and jaw-dropping performance,” plus some “big looks, big personalities, and a night of pure extravagance”.

Trinity The Tuck spoke to PinkNews about the bittersweet realities of touring with your own drag sisters, why she wants to invite Tayce to join the drag family, and her good friend, the late, brilliant The Vivienne.

PinkNews: You’re bringing your show HAUS Extravaganza to London – first things first, what will the show include, and why should fans of yours come down?

Trinity The Tuck: HAUS Extravaganza is a full fantasy. It’s not just a drag show, it’s a whole world. It’s high fashion, high energy, and a little unhinged in the best way. Fans can expect incredible looks, choreography, humour, and storytelling that ties into the HAUS universe. We’ve been creating a mix of pop star glamour and drag family realness.

I’ve performed in London many times, but this show is different because it’s truly ours. It’s our creative vision brought to life with chosen family.

The show is with your drag family members Sam Star and Jewels Sparkles. How does that change the dynamic of the show?

When you’re on stage with your drag family, the chemistry is unmatched. Sam and Jewels and my drag daughter Allura know me so well. They know when to match energy, when to take the spotlight, and when to throw shade just to make us all laugh. We’ve built HAUS together, and that bond translates on stage. There’s a sense of trust and joy that you can’t fake. It makes the show feel more alive and less like a performance and more like an experience you’ve been invited into.

What are the pros and cons of putting on a show and touring with your own drag family?

The biggest pro is that it feels like home wherever we go. We lift each other up, push each other creatively, and there’s no ego. It’s about the bigger picture. But of course, we’re still a family, which means sometimes it’s like traveling with siblings. We bicker, we tease, we steal each other’s wigs. But at the end of the day, we wouldn’t want to do it any other way. The con? Maybe that I can’t boss them around too much because they know all my secrets…

If you could adopt one Drag Race UK queen into your drag family, who would you choose and why?

Oh, that’s a tough one! There are so many talented UK queens. I’d say Tayce. She’s fierce, fashion-forward, and has that perfect balance of glam and grit that fits right into the HAUS aesthetic. Plus, she’s got the humour and confidence that makes her a powerhouse on and off stage. She’d be the cousin who always turns up late but somehow still steals the show. But I already do have a drag daughter in the UK. Her name is Ashley Fox. She worked with me every year for my booth at Drag Con UK and I saw how hard she works. She came in full drag and that takes dedication so I knew she was a perfect fit for the Tuck Dynasty.

Have you watched any of the current season of Drag Race UK? If so, who are you rooting for?

Yes, I’ve caught some of it, and I love seeing how the UK girls keep pushing boundaries. I don’t like to pick favourites too early, but I always root for the queens who are well-rounded and the ones who can make me laugh, gag me with fashion, and connect with heart. Drag Race UK has such a unique spirit; it’s raw, funny, and a little chaotic. I live for it.

You have made your big Drag Race All Stars return twice. If Sam and Jewels ever want to follow in your footsteps, what’s the best advice you can give them before making an All Stars appearance based on your experience?

I’d tell them… know exactly who you are before you walk through that workroom door. All Stars isn’t the place to find yourself, it’s where you show the world who you’ve already become.

Be confident, be kind, and don’t let the pressure make you forget to have fun. And most importantly don’t go home first or I’ll have to excommunicate you. Lol joke.

Finally, the UK drag scene is still mourning the loss of one of our greats, The Vivienne. She was a friend of yours, and you appeared in BBC documentary Dear Viv, talking about your friendship. What has been her lasting impact on you, and what do you think her legacy on the drag world is?

Viv was truly one of a kind. Talented, quick-witted, and so unapologetically herself. What I loved most about her was her heart. She was hilarious and could read a room to filth, but she also cared deeply about her art and her community.

Her legacy is about excellence and authenticity. She showed the world that drag can be funny, smart, glamorous, and deeply human all at once. I miss her energy, her laugh and the trouble we would get into. The drag world feels a little dimmer without her, but what she left behind continues to inspire us all. I will always miss my friend.

Trinity The Tuck’s HAUS Extravaganza with Sam Star, Jewels Sparkles, Allura The Doll and Tayce takes place at Clapham Grand in London on 1 November. Tickets available now.
