She said what she said: RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13 alumnus Tamisha Iman is pressing pause on her drag career.
In a post on Instagram over the weekend (12 July), the Atlanta-based drag veteran confirmed that she had found a “new kind of purpose”, as the owner and producer of a radio station.
“Well hello, friends,” Tamisha Iman – real name Will Crawford – began her lengthy post.
“It’s been 4 long months since my last post. And if I’m being honest, I’ve written and deleted this message a dozen times. But today – after reflection, healing, and a quiet return to myself – I finally found the words.
“For over 37 years, I gave my heart, body, and soul to an industry that shaped me, saved me, and scarred me all at once. The ride was wild, beautiful, painful, and glorious. And while I saw the end coming long before it arrived, I held on… for you,” she told her fans in the post.
She thanked her followers for making her “rollercoaster” of a drag career “worth every twist, turn, and tear”.
Tamisha went on to confirm that while she is stepping aside from drag, she isn’t quitting it altogether.
“As this chapter slows to a stop, I want you to know this: I am not done. I’m just shifting lanes — from the spotlight to the studio. From performer… to producer,” she wrote.
The drag superstar has founded Southern Soul Music Nation, a platform celebrating Southern soul and blues music, which will feature “music videos and artist interviews” plus “behind-the-scenes stories and live concert broadcasts”.
The entertainer has also founded Trail Ride Radio, which is described as the “source for the best in Southern Soul, Zydeco, Blues, Line Dance tracks, and down-home storytelling”.
“I’ve found a new kind of peace, a new kind of purpose — building something powerful for the next generation, and telling stories on my own terms,” Tamisha added.
She rounded off her post by thanking the fans who “stood by” and “rooted” for her, and once again reaffirmed: “This isn’t goodbye. It’s just ‘See you soon.’”

Tamisha Iman appeared on season 13 of Drag Race back in 2021, and became an instant fan favourite due to her moving back story – she had recently defeated colon cancer – and feisty attitude.
Despite being sent home early on in the season and coming in 11th place, Tamisha managed to be involved in one of the greatest Drag Race fights in recent memory, going head-to-head with fellow feisty diva, Kandy Muse.
The row led to several iconic quotes from the drag star, including “I SAID what I SAID” and “I’m the right one for you, little girl!”
