On his podcast, the ESPN commentator delivered a passionate response to the online reaction following Kirk’s killing at Utah Valley University. “I don’t care what his political beliefs were. I don’t care what he felt,” Smith said. “He’s dead at the age of 31. That his wife is a widow. That his children are fatherless because his ideas and his beliefs differed from somebody else, apparently.”

Smith went further, criticizing the celebratory posts he saw online. “And then I’m going online, and I’m seeing people celebrating it! Shame! Shame on you!” he added. However, he also commended the New York Yankees for pausing Wednesday night’s game against the Detroit Tigers to honor Kirk with a moment of silence and an image on the jumbotron.

“Props to the New York Yankees organization last night for having a moment of silence,” Smith continued. “We’re not supposed to condone stuff like this. We’re not supposed to say it’s OK. I don’t give a damn who you are, Black, White or anything in between! I hope the FBI and law enforcement catch this individual and do what needs to be done with him.”

Reactions to Kirk’s death included Team USA BMX rider Chelsea Wolfe, who faced scrutiny after posting celebratory messages on Instagram. MSNBC dismissed political analyst Matthew Dowd for suggesting Kirk’s rhetoric led to his death, and the Carolina Panthers fired communications staffer Charlie Rock for social media posts downplaying the tragedy.

Kirk was fatally shot by a lone gunman on Wednesday (Sep. 10), as he addressed students at Utah Valley University.

Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested in St. George, Utah, on Friday (Sep. 12), according to officials and sources who spoke with ABC News. His capture came after investigators circulated photos of the suspect, which Robinson’s father recognized. At a Friday morning press conference, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox confirmed the arrest with the words, “Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. We got him.”

Why am I not surprised that Stephen would use his platform to tapdance like the coon he is in order to go viral, and maintiain his position at ESPN?

If Stephen died tomorrow, and Charlie were still alive, that racist wouldn't spit on his enlarged forehead if it were on fire. So maybe you should care about what his political beliefs were, because he didn't see people like Stephen as human.

Charlie was not some self-made millionaire who woke up one morning to become the voice of a voiceless young generation. He was funded by rich people like: Julie Fancelli and Foster Friess.

I would not be surprised if he was chosen because he was young, determined, and willing to do the dirty work in exchange for fame, fortune, good connections and notoriety. Now in his death he's being treated like a martyr instead of a pariah, and all the pro-responses have shown is the true colors of people and corporations who agree with his bigoted ideologies.

I've also noticed a dramatic shift in my social media algorhythms since I've been posting a lot of anti-CK memes on my socials.

I was having a conversation with a friend who was experiencing the same thing, and he said he's been seeing more & more suggested content that is anti-“left” (which oddly enough, according to them, includes liberals).

My values & political theory knowledge are way too intact for me to get dragged by this towards the right-wing, but can you imagine what that does to others?!?

I’m telling y’all… our technocrats, who btw met up with Trump recently—from Zuckerberg to Bill Gates to Tim Cook, are working overtime to fascistize the world. How tf do y’all think Charlie Kirk has become an instant saint overnight in many parts of the world?!? Evil is truly upon us, and it’s in our freaking devices as well. Imagine the Reich Minister of Propaganda in Nazi Germany but with all the technology today. Welcome back, Goebbels?!? 🤬

I NEED YOU ALL TO BE MORE AWAKE THAN EVER!!!

This clip I saw on Don Lemon's TikTok page pretty much sums up my many thoughts regarding how people and our government have handled Charlie's death.
