Whoopi Goldberg Addresses Her Appearance In the Epstein Files On ‘The View’: “You Used To Have To Have Facts Before You Said Stuff”

Whoopi Goldberg has strongly defended herself after her name was revealed to be in the Jeffrey Epstein files. Speaking on The View, the presenter denied having any form of relationship with the convicted sex offender. “I wasn’t his friend,” she said.

The View‘s Whoopi Goldberg claimed she is “getting dragged” by critics because her name is mentioned in Jeffrey Epstein’s emails, so the ABC host decided to clear the air during Tuesday’s (Feb. 17) broadcast.

Goldberg shared the email on the show “n the name of transparency.”

“My name is in the files, yes. And what does it say?” she said.

Goldberg read part of the email aloud. In a message addressed to Epstein, someone from a redacted email asked the then-convicted sex offender if he would want to offer his private jet to Goldberg so that she can get to Monaco to host an event for Julian Lennon’s charity, the White Feather Foundation. The email stipulated Lennon’s charity would have footed the bill. Epstein responded, “No thanks.”

Joy Behar asked, “So in other words, anybody can be on this list?”

“Anybody,” Goldberg responded. She then denied having any type of relationship to Epstein. “This is my point. When I tell you people are trying to turn me into – I wasn’t his girlfriend, I wasn’t his friend.”

As Sara Haines joked Goldberg was “too old” for Epstein’s tastes, the actress defended herself against the criticism she’s allegedly been receiving for appearing in the Epstein files.

“You used to have to have facts before you said stuff,” she complained,

“Well, Trump is on this list 38,000 times. I mean, come on,” Behar commented, prompting Goldberg to continue in her own defense, “Well, I can’t speak to him but I’m speaking about me because I’m getting dragged.”

“People actually believe that I was with him. It’s like, honey, come on. Every man that I’ve ever been with, you’ve known about him because either the Inquirer wrote about it. People write about this stuff,” she said.

She also denied that she got on Epstein’s plane at all.

Haines noted that the emails will contain names of people mentioned in “news articles, third party emails, or contacts” shared with Epstein. But most people, including herself, are “looking for” accountability from those who had actual relationships with the late convicted sex offender.

“No one should be above scrutiny, no amount of status should soften abuse, no system should protect the powerful over victims,” she said.
