Billy Porter didn’t hold back when asked about Nicki Minaj and her support for Donald Trump while walking the red carpet at the 2026 MusiCares Person of the Year Gala on 30 January 2026 in Los Angeles.

When the topic turned to Minaj, who recently said she’s the President’s “biggest fan”, and took aim at Trump critic Gavin Newsom over his support for trans children, Porter responded bluntly: “F*** her.”

He added: “When people show you who they are, believe them the first time,” before repeating, “F***** herrrrr.”

The queer icon then broadened his criticism, seeming to condemn the current administration: “And all of them! Shame!”

Porter has recently been open with fans about his struggles after recovering from a life-threatening case of sepsis.

In a December Instagram update, he told fans: “So, some of you may or may not know that I was in the hospital very ill this fall with Urosepsis.

“It was not easy. It’s been a very, very challenging four months. And I want everybody to know that I am on the road to a full recovery. I’m not there yet, but I’m on the road to that.”
