Don Lemon is speaking out for the first time after he was fired on Monday from CNN. The anchor, who worked at the network for 17 years says he's in no hurry to get back to work.
“I don’t have to rush to another job, even if I want another job,” Lemon told Extra last night during a red carpet interview at the Time 100 Gala in New York. “I do, I want to work again, but I’m lucky enough to be in a position where I don’t have to worry about those things.”
Lemon also shut down rumors that he's planning to sue the news network for wrongful termination.
“No, no, no,” he responded. “I’m going to spend my summer on the beach and on the boat with my family and just chill out and I’ll see what happens next.”
Don's legacy isn't tainted like Tucker Carlson's. He can follow in the footsteps of his buddy Chris Cuomo, who has his own show on NewsNation. He can launch his own podcast, or follow Tamron Hall and go the daytime talk show route.
Or luxuriate with his millions of dollars, plus the $25 million he's about to collect from the CNN contract he signed last year before he was subsequently fired.
