Noah’s Arc star Doug Spearman aka Chance, revealed he didn’t receive any acting jobs or auditions for 7 years after filming the series and movie, despite its success.
Here's what he said in an exclusive interview with Gaye Magazine:
People tend to get type cast in television more than they do when they have careers in film. … I had an agent walk up to me at a cocktail party and say “Stop doing gay stuff.”
…Do I think being Black and talking about LGBTQ stories had an effect [on my career]? Absolutely. I know, in my own case, I don’t think I got a job for, like, six, seven years after ‘Noah’s Arc’ went off the air [in 2006] because I was in the show.
One of the reasons I took control of my own career and started writing and directing stuff is because I wasn’t getting auditions. Seven years. My manager and I talked about that. I didn’t get a job for seven years.
