Elliot Page and his Pageboy Productions are showing love to the documentary A Deeper Love: The Story of Miss Peppermint by signing on as executive producers of the Oriel Pe’er-directed film.

The 80-minute documentary, which has reportedly been in the works for several years, will feature never-before-seen footage of the life of trans drag star Peppermint.

First debuting in the ninth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Peppermint has since become a figurehead for LGBTQ+ activism, particularly campaigning for trans rights.

The film is set to delve into the performer’s early career and her fight to scrape together a living through late-night performances and sex work to fund her transition.

Not only has Page and his production company joined the crew as exectuive producer, Bob the Drag Queen and his Purse First Studios company have also joined up for the doc.

In explaining his decision, Page praised the “powerful, urgent, and deeply human” journey of Peppermint as an activist, a performer, and a trans woman.

“Her artistry, courage, and advocacy have changed the landscape for trans performers and inspired so many of us,” he added. “This documentary captures the full complexity of her experience in a way that feels both intimate and universal.”

Page added that he was “honoured” to help bring Peppermint’s story to “audiences everywhere.” The film is set to premiere at Framline49 in San Francisco on 26 June.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Peppermint said she was “thrilled” the documentary was ready to roll after “nearly a decade of work.”

“Trans issues are in the zeitgeist, yet our full humanity is so often left out of the conversation,” she said. “This film aims to offer something different — something more honest and personal.”

On working with Page and Pageboy on the documentary, Peppermint said it was “truly a dream come true.”
