Fangoria Chainsaw Awards 2025 Sets October Premiere Date on Shudder

Deep into spooky season comes an annual tradition that is the FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards. Streaming once again on Shudder the streamcast this year happens on October 19th at 9:00 p.m. EST, with “Heart Eyes” star Josh Ruben and horror veteran Barbara Crampton serving as co-hosts.

The fan-powered award show recognizes the horror genre’s finest achievements across film, television and gaming. Ryan Coogler (“Sinners”), Ernest Dickerson (“Tales From the Crypt: Demon Knight”) and David Howard Thornton (“Terrifier”) are among the presenters who will take the stage at this year’s ceremony, while heavy metal band Gwar will present Best Kill. Additional presenters include Shannon Purser, Felissa Rose, Tiffany Shepis, Bill Moseley, Jeffrey Reddick, Peaches Christ, Reece Feldman and more. Debbie Rochon (“Flesh of the Unforgiven”) will narrate the show.

“Sinners” and “The Substance” lead the 2025 nominations with 10 nods apiece. The two films are competing in the same categories for best wide release, best cinematography, best score, best director, best screenplay, best costume design, and best lead and supporting performances.

Other nominees include “Nosferatu,” “Strange Darling,” “Cuckoo,” “The Ugly Stepsister,” “28 Years Later” and “Longlegs.”

A nominating body of more than 150 industry tastemakers, creators and professionals selected this year’s nominees, with nearly 1 million fans casting their votes to decide the winners. The nominees consist of releases between July 2024 and June 2025.

The Fangoria 2025 Chainsaw Awards are written and directed by Michael Varrati. Executive producers are Tara Ansley and Abhi Goel, while Armen Aghaeian, Phil Nobile Jr., Michael Varrati and Rebekah McKendry serve as producers.
