Jinkx Monsoon Joins Doctor Who In Major Role

The upcoming season of Doctor Who is about to get a lot more queer. Fresh off her stint as Matron 'Mama' Morton in the hit Broadway play Chicago, two-time RuPaul's Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon is set to join the upcoming season of Doctor Who in a major role.

“In a galaxy of comets and supernovas, here comes the biggest star of all. Jinkx Monsoon is on a collision course with the TARDIS, and ‘Doctor Who’ will never be the same again,” showrunner Russell T Davies said.

“I’m honored, thrilled, and utterly excited to join ‘Doctor Who!’ Russell T Davies is a visionary and a brilliant writer — I can’t wait to get into the weeds with him and the crew! I hope there’s room in the TARDIS for my luggage,” Monsoon said.

“Doctor Who” returns on November 2023 with three special episodes featuring Doctor #14 David Tennant reprising his role to coincide with the show's 60th anniversary. Catherine Tate is also returning for the three episodes.

The new Doctor will be played by Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education). He will take control of the TARDIS after Tennant, with his first episode airing over the festive period. Last week it was reported that trans actor Pete MacHale is also joining the cast in an undisclosed role.
