Pussycat Dolls members Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts and Kimberly Wyatt finally confirmed the longstanding rumor that Britney Spears was supposed to make a cameo in the 2008 music video for their smash hit “When I Grow Up.”
“When we turn and we wave it was going to be Britney we were waving to,” Wyatt exclusively revealed on SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio Thursday.
“I think at one point she did film it, but for whatever reason it just didn’t end up — I don’t think her team allowed it to move forward,” she concluded. “You heard it here first!”
The girl group famously opened for Spears during her 2008 “The Circus Starring Britney Spears” tour while they were promoting their second studio album, “Doll Domination,” in which “When I Grow Up” served as the lead single.
The Pussycat Dolls officially disbanded in 2010, but earlier this month Page Six exclusively reported the news that some of its members would be reuniting.

On March 9, music insiders told us the “Buttons” hitmakers were prepping for a world tour after a 16-year hiatus and that frontwoman Scherzinger is “definitely back” with the band.
Days later, the ladies officially announced the North America tour via Instagram.
This reunion has been a long time coming for the singers. They were expected to do a tour in 2020, but COVID-19 halted those plans.

I don't know how true it is, but what I heard is that Britney declined to film the cameo because at the time she was going through a custody battle over her sons, and they had just been taken away from her. There was someone who apparently was on set who went to retrieve Britney from her trailer to film her scene, and when the person got there they noticed how sad she was. The person claims they sat with Britney and tried to cheer her up while she sat in her trailer depressed.
So I'm not sure if Britney filmed her scene, or if she did end of filming it, her team saw how unhappy she looked on camera and opted for a different scenario, which ended up being the final edit of the music video.
