‘Terrifier 4’ Will Be Set on New Year’s Eve!

At the world premiere of Terrifier 3, franchise writer/director Damien Leone said there will be a Terrifier 4 – and he later said he thinks that will be the last entry in the franchise, because he doesn’t want it to wear out his welcome. We’ve heard that Leone plans to reveal Art the Clown’s origin in the new sequel, with the character’s backstory being told in the first 15 minutes, and that it will build up to a “batshit insane” finale. Now, Leone has revealed that the story takes place around New Year’s Eve!

The first two Terrifier films were set at Halloween before Art the Clown took on Christmas in Terrifier 3, leading fans to speculate the setting of the fourth installment.

“No space. No Easter bunny. Art’s bringing in the New Year!” writer-director Damien Leone shared on Instagram.

The announcement brings us one step closer to Terrifier 4, which Leone is still developing with the hope of beginning pre-production soon.

Leone previously said the script is “shaping up to be the most epic, horrifying, thrilling, emotional and satisfying conclusion to the Terrifier saga.” He also confirmed Art’s backstory will be revealed in the opening 15 minutes.

Franchise stars David Howard Thornton (Art the Clown), Lauren LaVera (Sienna Shaw), and Samantha Scaffidi (Victoria Heyes) are expected to reprise their roles in Terrifier 4.

“I want some sort of retribution for Sienna,” LaVera commented. “I think our girl’s been through enough and she deserves a win, whatever it will look like for her. Whether or not she survives, I don’t know, but I think she deserves a win.”

“I’m very excited, but I don’t know a whole lot, because this time around Damien has been keeping everything very close to his vest about what’s happening in the script,” Thornton noted, teasing a “bat-shit insane” finale.

The slasher saga launched with Terrifier in 2016, followed by Terrifier 2 in 2022. Terrifier 3 opened at #1 at the box office in 2024, becoming the highest grossing unrated film of all time.

If Terrifier 4 is indeed the end of the franchise, as Leone has insinuated, the threshold of New Year’s is a fitting time to bring the story to a close.
