The controversial rapper, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, performed at the Australian Football League’s (AFL) grand final last September, despite his history of anti-gay comments.
AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon defended paying the star a reported $2 million (close to £1.5 million) for his appearance, seemingly implying that the star had changed. However, soon after, Snoop Dogg told the It’s Giving podcast that he had watched Toy Story spin-off Lightyear, which featured a same-sex kiss, with his grandson, who had asked him: “Papa Snoop, how she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman.”
The singer recalled thinking: “Aw s**t, I didn’t come for this s**t, I came here to watch the god-damn movie. Y’all throwing me in the middle of this s**t that I don’t have an answer for.” He went on to say: “It threw me for a loop.”
He was now frightened to watch films because he might have to acknowledge the existence of LGBTQ+ people and their relationships, he said.

‘Rooted in homophobia’
Appearing on TMZ Live on Monday (25 August), actress Madison claimed Dogg’s comments were rooted in homophobia.
“As a parent, you should explain to your children that other things exist in the world outside of what you have deemed normal in your home,” she said.
Earlier this year, the reality star was honoured with a Ts Madison day, in Washington DC.
“I am so humbled and overjoyed to be still moving loud and proud as a Black transgender woman during this egregious Trump regime,” she said, “stepping over all the hate that comes with it.”
